How I Met Your Mother season seven finale - worth the wait?

Posted in : Celebrities

(added 2 days ago)

The season seven finale of "How I Met Your Mother" aired Monday night, and it was certainly worth the wait!  In an hourlong season finale, "How I Met Your Mother" finally revealed that Barney and Robin do indeed end up together. And as for the gang's latest addition, Marshall and Lily named their baby Marvin Waitforit Eriksen.

How I Met Your Mother season seven finale - worth the wait?

The season finale was full of action, with Marshall and Barney highly intoxicated in Atlantic City and struggling to make their way back to New York in time for Lily to give birth. After a couple failed attempts to get home, the pair finally hopped on a senior citizen bus heading to Buffalo, a route that is definitely not going to get them to New York City. Fortunately the senior citizen passengers were rooting for Marshall and Barney, and after they rose one by one to declare "I'm having a heart attack," the bus changed its route.

While Barney and Marshall are rushing back, Lily is freaking out with Robin and Ted. While viewers haven't seen Robin and Ted together in a couple of episodes, the former lovers agree to put aside their differences for Lily. In between recounting some hilarious stories from the gang's past in order to distract from Lily's pain, Ted sends out a "Kick-Ass Labor Announcement E-mail," and soon enough the three are heading to the hospital.

Marshall finally arrives, and with him he brings Lily some news. Marshall promised Barney that their son's middle name would be Waitforit, and Lily agrees. In the middle of pushing out Marvin Waitforit Eriksen, she screams "Arghhh, that is the coolest middle name of all time!"

After the gang meets the latest addition, Robin and Ted continue to rebuild their friendship in the waiting room, and Robin really lets Ted have it. Robin says everything viewers have probably been thinking for the past seven seasons: Ted is always chasing the wrong girl! "You say you want a family, you say you want to meet 'The One,' but you're always chasing the wrong woman," she brutally tells him. Robin tells Ted that he should reconnect with Victoria, but Ted isn't the only one realizing what he needs to do.

Barney realizes that he ran off to Atlantic City for two days without calling Quinn, and is worried that she left him. Quinn does one better though, and instead of running off, she redecorates Barney's man cave with Hello Kitty decorations. While Barney is relieved that Quinn hasn't left him, Ted, with the help of Marvin, is starting to realize that this isn't where he wants to be in life. Thinking about what Robin said about Victoria, Ted gives her a call and the pair meet up at MacLaren's.

In an interesting twist though, this isn't your average reunion between exes. Victoria shows up in a wedding gown, and even though she is supposed to get married in a couple hours she tells Ted, "Let's drive off into the sunset together."

You'd think Ted would have turned down Victoria after the whole Stella wedding fiasco, but Ted, love-struck as always, runs off with her. Ted does change his mind for a second, but after thinking about his previous time with Victoria he continues driving.

Barney and Quinn have a similar idea of riding off into the sunset, and head to the airport to take a trip to Hawaii. Barney gets taken to a holding room, though, when security finds him carrying a disturbing-looking box. Barney refuses to answer the airport security's questions about the box, but a threat from Quinn finally makes him reveal what's inside the box. The box turned into a small case that revealed a red flower and an engagement ring that would make any gal happy. Barney proposes to Quinn, and she happily accepts. The newly engaged pair run off to Lily and Marshall's to tell the good news, and it's there that fans see Robin's heartache.

There was still one scene from previews of the finale that had yet to be shown. A flash forward scene previously showed Barney at his wedding with his best man Ted. As the two get ready, Lily walks in, telling Ted that the bride is asking for him. Tonight the scene didn't stop there, as Ted walks into another room to see Barney's bride -- Robin.

What did you think of the season seven finale of "How I Met Your Mother?"

'Modern Family' Star Sarah Hyland Reveals Recent Kidney Transplant

Posted in : Celebrities

(added 3 days ago)

Sarah Hyland she plays Modern Family's bubbly, ditzy teenage daughter onscreen, but off-screen, she's been quietly dealing with some serious health issues. In a new interview with Seventeen magazine, the 21-year-old actress opened up about her lifelong battle with kidney dysplasia, a condition in which the kidneys don't develop properly.

'Modern Family' Star Sarah Hyland Reveals Recent Kidney Transplant

Thankfully, Hyland's troubling health saga has a happy ending. Last month, Hyland received a kidney transplant from her father and is doing wonderfully. As she told Seventeen in her first interview since the procedure, "I have a second chance at life, not a lot of people get that."

While Hyland is obviously grateful to her family for their support leading up to and following her operation, she explained that she also learned just how amazing her other support systems are. "You know that family is always going to be there for you – no matter what. My dad gave me a freakin' kidney!" Hyland said. "But it's also the families that you create outside of your family. And you really find out what kind of people you're friends with. It was just amazing, and it really opened my eyes to see who's there for me and who's not."

Hyland's boyfriend, actor Matt Prokop, (who actually appeared on last week's Modern Family) is by her side as well. "He helps me with my medication and takes me to doctor appointments and all the stuff that I need to do to take care of myself," Hyland said. "Any other 21-year-old guy would not be there, I guarantee it. I am one of the luckiest people in the world to have him be there for me."

With Modern Family done filming for the season, Hyland is using her time off to repay all the goodwill that came her way during a scary and difficult time. She'll spend her summer lending her services to George Lopez's Lopez Foundation, an organization that offers aid to underprivileged children, adults, and military families dealing with difficult health issues. "I think it's really great because it gives kids opportunities they wouldn't normally have, and I've had experiences like that in my life, so it's really close to my heart," she said.

Posted in : Celebrities

(added 6 days ago)

Johnny Depp has slammed reports that he and and his long-term girlfriend Vanessa Paradis are heading towards a split.

Johnny Depp denies rumours of a split at Dark Shadows premiere

At the premiere of his new movie, Dark Shadows, in London, Johnny denied that his relationship with Vanessa is in trouble. In fact, the 48-year-old was quite forceful with his denial. 'The rumours are not true,” he reportedly told The Sun newspaper. 'They are absolutely not true.'

RadarOnline.com reported that Johnny and Vanessa, who have been partners for over 14 years and have two children together, were having troubles.

The website quoted a source as saying: 'People around him are worried about how Johnny is doing because he and Vanessa seem so fractured right now. Their relationship is heading toward the end.'

However, despite the 39-year-old mother of Johnny's two children staying away from his Dark Shadows premieres, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor insists that everything is fine. 'No matter what I say about this, people believe the opposite. I can’t say enough about it not being over,' he told British newspaper, The Sun.

The couple, who own a home in France and a Caribbean island, have not been spotted together in months and Vanessa also recently walked the red carpet of her premiere, of Café de Flore in Paris, alone.

Johnny and Vanessa are parents to Lily Rose,12, and ten-year-old Jack. He has a tattoo of his daughter's name over his heart and one for Jack on his bicep. Johnny credits fatherhood with giving him a solid foundation.

Richest Celeb Couples include Beyonce & Jay-Z, Brad Pitt & Angelina, and Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart

Posted in : Celebrities

(added 8 days ago)

These celebrities are millionaires in their own rights, but when you throw two together, you get an unstoppable - not to mention super rich - force.

Richest Celeb Couples include Beyonce & Jay-Z, Brad Pitt & Angelina, and Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart

Coming first in the ranking - and somewhat suprisingly - is the powerful duo formed by supermodel Gisele Bundchen and NFL superstar Tom Brady. Gisele is well on the road to becoming the world’s first billionaire supermodel, as she recently pocketed a massive $45 million over a 12-month period. Not to be overshadowed by his more famous wife, Tom  – who signed a four-year, $72 million contract extension in September with the New England Patriots, NFL’s richest deal on an annual basis – brought home another $31 million, putting the couple’s combined annual earnings at $76 million.

Music’s most powerful couple, Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z hauled in some $72 million over the past year, making them number 2 on the list.  Beyonce earned an estimated $35 million in a twelve month period, thanks mostly to business-focused deals such as a clothing line with Dereon and endorsement deals with L’Oreal, DirecTV, General Mills and others. As for Jay-Z, his earnings come from the 10-year $150 million Live Nation deal that he signed in 2008, and the cash he collects as a shareholder in New Jersey Nets, 40/40 Club chain and ad firm Translation.

Hollywood royalty Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt came in third place on our list, but the first appearance of an acting duo, with a combined $50 million annual income. The highest-paid actress in the world is the only woman making bank for playing action heroes in Tinseltown these days: Salt, which was originally written for Tom Cruise, earned $300 million at the box office. Her other movie from last year, The Tourist, made another $280 million worldwide. As a result, Angelina pocketed around $30 million last year, while her soon-to-be husband, Brad Pitt, cashed in some $20 million. With his Plan B production company, Brad has become as active a producer as he is an actor.

Apart from the fact that he is yet to popularize soccer in America, David Beckham, along with his former Spice Girl wife Victoria, are the world’s fourth Highest-Paid Celebrity couple, with combined earnings of $45 million between May 2010 and May 2011. David’s pitch prowess has declined in recent years as the 36-year-old’s career winds down, but he still collects big endorsement checks from companies like Adidas and, more recently, Samsung, for which he will be the global brand ambassador during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. His pay check last year: $40 million. Victoria is responsible for the other $5 million from the couple’s annual income, thanks to the percentage of sales that she collects from her fashion lines, a figure which is set to soar this year.

Coming last, but not least, is Twilight’s Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, who have both earned $20 million last year thanks to the franchise’s global success, making their combined annual salary $40 million. With the end of the Twilight franchise in sight, they both are preparing for a post-vampire career. Robert has taken the lead in more “serious” projects, like Remember Me, which earned $56 million on a budget of $16 million. In the meantime, Kristens’s non-Twilight career hasn’t been as promising as her co-star and real-life boyfriend’s so far. Her 2010 film The Runaways grossed only $4.6 million at the box office. But there’s still hope for Kristen as she can soon be seen in cinemas playing the leading role in the film Snow White and the Huntsman.

Zimbio Exclusive Interview: Doe Eye, Billboard Battle of the Bands Finalist

Posted in : Celebrities

(added 11 days ago)

I'm excited for singer-songwriter Maryam Qudus, a.k.a. Doe Eye. In the past year, the Bay Area native released her debut EP (the lovely, earnest Run Run Run), enrolled at Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music, was named FUSE TV's Unsigned Artist of the Month and raised funds for her sophomore EP through Kickstarter. She's also a finalist in Billboard.com and Chevrolet's "Cruze-ing to Vegas" contest, which pits her against five other groups for the opportunity to perform at the Billboard Music Awards on May 20.

Zimbio Exclusive Interview Doe Eye, Billboard Battle of the Bands Finalist

After bonding over our mutual love of Berklee grad Kishi Bashi, we discussed music school, her upcoming EP, Justin Bieber, and San Francisco.

Zimbio: What motivated you to seek formal training?

Doe Eye: I think that learning music is really important, because there are so many possibilities with music if you have all the formal knowledge for it, you know? As a musician I want to know all the different possibilities I can have when writing a song. That's really important to me. Some of it can go way over your head because the theory is sometimes really complicated, and can take years and years to actually understand the concepts, but I don't think it can hurt a musician to learn, it can only help you. As a musician, being really young, I want to get the most out of learning music while I'm still young, that way as I get older I'll only get better and better.

Zimbio: Definitely. I was reading an interview with St. Vincent about her time at Berklee. She ended up leaving, but she said something about how she knew she needed a formal framework to create what she wanted and know what she wanted.

DE: That's awesome. St. Vincent is one of my hugest inspirations, she's one of my role models with songwriting and singing and everything. That's really cool, I didn't know that.

Zimbio: Have you seen her live?

DE: Yeah, she throws an incredible show!

Zimbio: I've never seen any musician ever sing an entire song while crowdsurfing. And in heels. DE: I know, I know. I went to her show last year and was completely blown away. And I was a fan of her for a while, so just seeing her live was—one of those moments, you know, when you see your favorite musician live, so when she jumped into the crowd, I was just like, 'Oh my god, I officially love her forever.'

There were people around me that looked like they were going to burst into tears. I read on Twitter that at the Oakland show she actually got injured and she's in a wheelchair right now.

Oh no. That doesn't surprise me, considering she was upside down for most of it. Anyway, I really liked your cover of Portishead's "Glory Box."

DE: I love that song! We were in practice a few days ago and my drummer Ernie, he really loves Portishead and so do I, and he just started playing the drum groove, and then my bassist picked up the bass groove right away, and then my violinist automatically started playing the violin part. It was really cool, it was like our first time every playing it and I recorded it just on the spot, so it was awesome.

It came off really well. Can you talk about some of the other artists that have inspired you?

DE: I'm really inspired by Arcade Fire, one of my favorite bands. I really am inspired not only by their music but also by their live show and their performance. Sometimes in their live shows they'll put together a 12-piece band or have a string quartet in a tiny club space, and I love that because there's just so much energy when there are that many musicians on the stage.

Win Butler is an amazing lyricist. I have a bunch of Arcade Fire records, and I was just sitting in my apartment, looking through the lyrics, and they're just so profound and so deep. Sometimes you listen to songs and the lyrics go way over your head, but when you take the time to read them you think, 'Wow, this is really beautiful and it means so much now.'

I've been listening to Funeral by Arcade Fire, Teen Dream by Beach House, and Illinois by Sufjan Stevens a lot as inspiration for my next release, which is supposed to be out by September of this year.

Zimbio: That's so exciting, congratulations!

DE: Thank you! It got funded by Kickstarter, which is really cool. I got $600 over my goal, which is really cool.

Zimbio: It's actually really exciting for the people who donate, too. It's such an amazing model for artists.

DE: Yeah. I'm not only thrilled to go into the studio to be able to record those songs, but I'm also really excited to share it. I have had fans reach out and show their enthusiasm and how excited they are for my next release. I'm really excited to go into this studio in San Francisco, a studio called the Tiny Telephone Studio. Bands like Death Cab for Cutie record there, the Dodos...

Zimbio: That's where Chris Walla does production work, right?

DE: Yeah, he's the house engineer, and we're going to be using his studio. I'm going to be working together with John Vanderslice, who's produced Spoon, the Magnetic Fields, and the Mountain Goats. I'm really excited for that.

Zimbio: How is your sound changing on this new release?

DE: I think it's definitely evolved, but I'm still the same songwriter, still the same musician, so there is going to be a similar feel. The Run Run Run EP was my first release, and I kind of went into the studio not really expecting anything and not really even preparing much—my songs were bare acoustic, and I worked together with my producer to add more on the spot. With this next EP, there's a lot more preparation that's being done. We'll be recording on tape, as opposed to digitally. I'm excited about that, it just sounds so much better. But you know, same musician, different songs, but way more evolved.

Zimbio: So, Billboard's Battle of the Bands. If you win this, are you going to be nervous about performing on national TV?

DE: I'm really excited. I've dreamed of being a musician since I was a little girl, I always knew I wanted to be a singer and do music, and I think playing the Billboard Battle of the Bands is going to be a whole new experience, a whole new breakthrough. As far as nervousness goes, I mean, probably a little bit. I'll be a little bit nervous, but I've been performing for a while now and I know how to calm my nerves, so I'm more excited than anything. If I do win, I'll be more excited than nervous.

Zimbio: And you're driving out to Las Vegas in a Chevy.

DE: Yeah, Chevy will be sponsoring us. We'll be going in a Chevy Cruze towards Las Vegas, so that will be a lot of fun—the cool thing is they have Sirius XM loaded in, so we'll be able to put in what station we want and update bands on Facebook through the car, so I'm stoked about that stuff.

Zimbio: There will be celebrity judges at this competition and then at the Billboard Music Awards, a lot of superstars, including Justin Bieber...

DE: I love Justin Bieber.

Zimbio: So does everybody, it turns out.

DE: I give him credit as a musician. Some people feel indifferent about Justin Bieber, but he can actually sit down and play his guitar and just start singing, and produce his own records. I really respect him.

Zimbio: Are there any performers that might leave you starstruck?

DE: Yeah. Adele. I love Adele. Everyone loves Adele. I don't know if that's an overstatement, but I've never heard anyone say, 'God, I hate Adele.' She's amazing, she's such a true, raw talent. I love what she does, I love her music, and she's definitely an inspiration as a vocalist. If I saw Adele or met Adele, I'd feel like I was in a dream or something.

Zimbio: Have you checked out your competitors?

DE: A little bit. I've listened to them, but that's not really what I'm focusing on. I think my competitors are super talented. I just think that it's not going to do much for me to really focus on them, it's important for me to focus on my own performance and practice.

(added 13 days ago)

American rapper Adam "MCA" Yauch of The Beastie Boys has died following a long battle with cancer. In 2009, the Beastie Boys were forced to cancel a tour and delay the release of their album, Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 2, after a tumor was discovered in Yauch's salivary gland. The group had not performed live since.

The Beastie Boys' Adam 'MCA' Yauch Dies at 47

Yauch co-founded the Beastie Boys with Adam "Ad-Rock" Horowitz and Mike "Mike D" Diamond in 1979. Though the band had punk rock roots, it became best known for its often political hip-hop. Brooklyn native Yauch directed many of the group's music videos and a concert film under the pseudonym "Nathanial Hörnblowér." He also directed Gunnin' for That No. 1 Spot, a documentary about basketball players at the first Boost Mobile Elite 24 Hoops Classic in Harlem, in 2008. He was instrumental in raising awareness of the movement to free Tibet, co-organizing a series of concerts for the cause in the late '90s.

Last month Yauch was inducted into Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Although he was too ill to attend the ceremony, a letter he wrote was read aloud to the audience. He is survived by his wife, American-born Tibetan activist Dechen Wangdu, and his daughter, Tenzin Losel Yauch.

Scarlett Johansson: ''I'm constantly surprised by how rude people are"

(added 15 days ago)

Avengers actress Scarlett Johansson has said that she is ''surprised'' at how rude people can be. The 27-year-old - who was previously married to Ryan Reynolds - admits she is sometimes shocked when fans put a camera in her face when she is trying to enjoy a private moment, and believes being famous can bring out the worst in those around her.

Scarlett Johansson 'I'm constantly surprised by how rude people are

Scarlett revealed: ''I'm constantly surprised by how rude people are. You'll be having an intimate dinner with a friend and there's somebody on the table behind with a cameraphone pointing at your face. I think, 'I would never take a photo of someone without asking. I'm not traumatized by it but I find it can bring out the worst in humanity sometimes.''

Discussing her career - which has seen her nominated for four Golden Globe awards - Scarlett claims she does not ''actively look'' for sexy roles but thinks curvy women can sometimes be pigeonholed into such parts.

Speaking to The New Review, she said: ''I wanted to be a character actor. Those are the actors I most admire. I think women that are curvy can be pigeonholed in that bombshell thing. It's not like I actively look for sexy roles. It's not a requirement that my character be pretty and delicate. I never think about my character being sexy unless that's written in.''

The new extended trailer for the highly-anticipated final film in the Batman franchise, The Dark Knight Rises, has teased fans as the opening night draws near. However, the film does little to dispell fears that the hero will perish at the trilogy's close.  The new two-minute long preview portrays an intensely gloomy and dire setting, as Bruce Wayne's nemesis, Ban,e reigns.

Batman The Dark Knight Rises extended trailer released

Anne Hathaway plays Catwoman in the new flick, and appears to provide the one-liners in the movie, as villainous Bane wreaks havoc and despair. Bane is the only nemesis that has toppled Batman in the story's past - even breaking his back in one of the comics. 'I am Gotham's reckoning,' the villain announces.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman also make appearances in the trailer. Joseph, who plays John Blake, discusses the possibility that Bane has killed Batman at one point. The longstanding rumour has been that Bruce Wayne will perish in this final installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins franchise.  Micahel Caine can be seen saying: 'I won't bury you. I've buried enough members of the Wayne family.'

Catwoman, or Selina Kyle, appears to try to convince Batman to give up the fight for Gotham. 'You don’t owe these people any more,' she pleads. 'You’ve given them everything.'The Dark Knight Rises has cost a staggering $250million to make, but will not be shown in 3D, only IMAX cinemas. The film opens in cinemas in the UK and US on July 20.
